Sell your ads - offsite
YouTube is going to allow content creators to sell ads on their own content on the worlds largest video distribution platform.
Of course the owners of YouTube, Google, is going to take a cut of the action, but the move is none the less quite interesting. Also for media companies.
So far the lack of monetization opportunities have prevented media companies from distributing their content outside their own websites. It may be that you couldn’t monetize yourself, but if you let some other site host your content too, you were damned sure not to get a penny from it.
Well, not any more. With YouTube’s new model, you can actually go to the websites, where your audience already is and monetize your content there. It may not be as much, because Google will have a share to grab, but if the alternative is not monetizing same content or to the same degree on your own site, even having to give up something to Google should be a better proposition, right?
If YouTube/Google is succesful with this move, expect others to follow suit.
