The Wrap Up: December 1

This is the season to be jolly. And what better way to start out be having another wrap up of some of the more interesting posts from my feed reader? Thought so.

This time it’s about changing roles at media companies, Guy Kawasakis brillant Alltop blog aggregation site and the 4 C’s of community.

What It Takes

Most media companies are still lacking way behind on the transition to digital. And they will for some time to come. One of the big issues is that ressource allocation which seems like a nobrainer for the print business is not at all happening for online. Mark Potts has an excellent post on what exactly this means and how it’s really not rocket science to realign the necessary ressources.

How Alltop Powers Bloggers

First I thought it was kinda dump, but when I got to know it Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop blog-index appealed immensely to me. It’s like an island in the middle of a rough site - something to grasp at. The only thing that really amazes me about it is how come this idea wasn’t thought out by a media company? What great idea to work on securing the medias relevance by not only being a producer of content but also a curator.

The 4 C’s of Community

A lot of people and companies want to create their own communities, like a community was something you could just go and create as a thing of will. David Armano has a nice low-key list of things you should take into consideration before even starting to try to build out a community. It’s worth a read as it could potentially save you time and money.
