The state of the Danish web is…troubled

The Danish IAB, FDIM, has released an interesting new report which for the first time really shows a combined overview of how Danes use the internet.

It’s interesting numbers. I’m not going to quote them here but just suffice to say that if you look at it from a Danish language perspective, the worst fears of international dominance seems unfounded. Only a few sites international sites make it to the top 20. And in weird ways thats precisely the problem. [Read more →]

Google offers you The Cloud

One of the most exciting things about the times we live in is that barriers of entry into new markets with new products are getting close to zero. At least from a technological point-of-view. Its the idea rather than your financial clout that makes great things possible.

A front-runner for this has been Amazon, who through its Amazon Web Services have made computing and storage in the cloud an almost free proposition for would be entrepreneurs. And now they are looking towards great competition from someone who wants to make it completely free. [Read more →]

Where is this social thing going?

Why is this important? Because Oprah is hugely popular with millions of women worldwide, and in that capacity her use of these technological tools drives adoption in a much more efficient manner than any advertising campaign could ever do. [Read more →]

The myth of The Long Tail

analyse1.jpgThe theory of The Long Tail is coming under increased scrutiny as some people are starting to doubt whether the theory works or is only applicable to a few very succesful giant e-tailers like Amazon.

It’s an interesting debate, and several issues suggest that it has merit. Let’s try to examine three of the most important ones, as I see it. [Read more →]

Is UGC a fad or just good for some things?

analyse1.jpgWhat purpose does User Generated Content (UGC) serve after all? Is it really the case of a phenomenon that is rapidly turning into a fad? Will we see a resurgence of old school type of media businesses as it proves to be the only really viable type at the end of the day?

No one can blame people for starting to ask these sorts of questions. At least when it comes to media and entertainment. Because there are more and more signs that people by and large simply do not follow the leads of the UGC priesthood. [Read more →]
