The death of a newspaper model
The most widely read newspaper in Denmark, Nyhedsavisen, has folded. Late yesterday the staff was informed that extra money for publication won’t be released by the papers lead investor, Skype-investor Morten Lund.
From a reader perspective this is bad news, since Nyhedsavisen was arguably the best of the freesheets. But more than that it signals the end for the broadly distributed newspaper model. [Read more →]

Humanize your KPI’s
Measurement is great. Combined with goals and objectives, it’s the way to measure when you’ve made it, and the celebrations can start. But the way it’s being done is deeply flawed. Especially in the media space.
KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) exist everywhere. But they are thought up and run by accountants with little respect to the inherent creative nature of the business the same KPI’s are supposed to support. They are not felt. Movie studios still don’t get it
You would have thought that the movie industry had watched the music industry self-implode and learned their lesson. Alas, nothing seems to indicate that. Far from it actually.
A new initiative driven by Sony Pictures bears stark evidence towards this. They are hoping to rally most of the industry around an Open Market to combat conflicting formats, secure rights management etc. All instead of doing the only real tenable thing: To embrace the market. [Read more →]

Is Google Ad Manager a great idea?
Google Ad Manager is moving out of beta. Now everybody with an AdSense account can manage their own ads, setup filters etc. etc. It’s all very flashy.
